Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of an interactive cinema therapy program for prevention of school violence among adolescents.
Methods: The study used a nonequivalent control group pre-posttest design. The 62 participants were selected from juvenile delinquents on probation (29 for the experimental group and 33 for the control group) in J city. The data were analyzed with a ?2-test, t-test, and paired t-test, using the SPSS 12.0 program.
Results: After the program there were significant changes in self-efficacy (t=?9.57, p £¼.001), anti-sociality (t=5.76, p £¼.001), social skills (t= ?10.50, p £¼.001), and aggression (t=4.41, p £¼.001), but no significant changes in emotional stability (t=.018, p =.986) and anger (t=.059, p =.953).
Conclusion: The results demonstrated that the interactive cinema therapy program was effective in preventing school violence among adolescents.
